Jump to Recipe

Pineapple BBQ Grilled Pork Chops is a delightful dish that blends the savory flavors of perfectly grilled pork chops with the sweet and tangy notes of pineapple. This dish captures the essence of tropical and barbecue cuisines, making it a standout meal for any occasion.

This dish’s main feature is the grilled butterflied pork chops. Butterfly-cutting the pork chops ensures even and quick cooking, which is perfect for grilling. The chops are brushed with extra virgin olive oil and seasoned simply with salt and ground black pepper to let the natural flavors of the pork shine. Grilling the pork chops over medium-high heat gives them a beautiful char and smokiness that enhances their flavor. The goal is to cook the pork chops until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C), ensuring they are juicy and tender.

Accompanying the pork chops are slices of fresh pineapple, also grilled to caramelized perfection. Pineapple is an excellent complement to pork, providing a sweet and tangy contrast to the meat’s savory richness. The natural sugars in the pineapple caramelize on the grill, creating a delightful depth of flavor and beautiful grill marks. Grilled pineapple adds a vibrant and tropical element to the plate.

The highlight of the dish is the Pineapple BBQ Sauce. It’s made from finely chopped fresh pineapple, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, ground cumin, and a touch of cayenne pepper. This sauce perfectly combines sweet, tangy, and smoky flavors. The process starts by simmering these ingredients until the pineapple, onions, and garlic soften, and the flavors blend beautifully. After cooking, the mixture is blended until smooth, creating a thick, luscious sauce that complements the pork chops superbly. The sauce’s sweet and tangy profile, with a hint of spice from the cayenne pepper, perfectly balances the richness of the grilled pork.

This dish is served with a side of cooked white rice, providing a neutral base that soaks up the delicious BBQ sauce and juices from the pork chops. The fluffy rice adds a comforting and filling component to the meal, making it a well-rounded and satisfying dish.

When serving, the grilled pork chops are arranged on a platter alongside the caramelized pineapple slices. Generously drizzling the Pineapple BBQ Sauce over the pork chops ties all the elements together, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. For the added presentation and taste, additional grilled pineapple slices can be used as a garnish.

Pineapple BBQ Grilled Pork Chops are a versatile dish that can be enjoyed for family dinners, summer barbecues, or any special occasion. The combination of sweet, savory, and smoky flavors, along with the vibrant colors of the ingredients, makes this dish both visually appealing and incredibly delicious. It’s a perfect example of how simple ingredients can be transformed into a gourmet meal with the proper techniques and flavors.

This dish not only highlights the delicious potential of pork and pineapple but also brings a tropical twist to traditional barbecue, making it a refreshing and memorable meal. Enjoy the blend of succulent pork, sweet pineapple, and tangy BBQ sauce in every bite.
