Papaya Smoothie

Jump to Recipe

Papaya is a fun fruit. It looks cool, it tastes different, and it’s exotic. Just the word exotic tingles parts of my brain. A little exotic never hurt anybody. So grab a papaya next time you’re at the grocery store for a fun time.

This exotic fruit originated in what is now modern day Mexico and Central America. Not surprisingly, papaya is a popular ingredient among Mexican cuisine. One of the most popular uses is actually in salads, along with vegetables. Papaya’s unique flavor allows it great culinary flexibility. Some people actually describe papaya as tasting “like nothing“. I agree that doesn’t sound appealing. It’s taste is delicate. It can easily be overpowered by other flavors, but plenty of people rave about how papaya tastes like a less sweet, more bitter combination of mango, cantaloupe, and banana. Now that doesn’t sound too bad does it.

What sounds even better though is blending papaya together with the aforementioned fruits (minus cantaloupe), milk, and egg whites for powerfully healthy smoothie.
