Jump to Recipe

Chipotle Guava Mango Jam is a unique and flavorful spread that combines the sweetness of tropical fruits with the smoky heat of chipotle peppers. This type of jam is a fusion of different flavor profiles and culinary influences, creating a versatile condiment that can be used in various ways.

Mangoes add a sweet, fruity, and slightly tangy flavor to the jam. They are a staple in tropical cuisines and are known for their lush, juicy taste.

Guava contributes a distinctive tropical flavor, which is both sweet and slightly tart. It adds depth and complexity to the jam.

Chipotle peppers are dried, smoked jalapeño peppers. They impart a smoky depth and a moderate level of heat to the jam, balancing the sweetness of the fruits.

A touch of sugar adds sweetness and helps preserve the jam, while a bit of apple cider vinegar balances the flavors while adding a touch of brightness.

The jam is a delightful blend of sweet, smoky, and spicy flavors. The mango and guava provide a rich tropical sweetness, while the chipotle peppers offer a contrasting smoky heat. This combination creates a multi-layered flavor experience.

Uses for Chipotle Guava Mango Jam:

Chipotle Guava Mango Jam is a tantalizing blend of sweet tropical fruits and smoky chipotle heat, enriched with the subtle tartness of apple cider vinegar and the perfect balance of sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 large 1 mango, peeled and diced

  • 6 ripe 6 guavas, peeled and roughly chopped

  • 2 dried 2 chipotle peppers, rehydrated and diced

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 water

  • 1 tablespoon 1 apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons 2 sugar

  • salt, to taste

Directions

  • Puree the Guavas:
Peel the guavas, remove the seeds if desired (they are edible but can be gritty), and chop the flesh roughly. Add the water and chopped guava to a blender. Blend until throughly pureed.
  • Cook Ingredients:
In a saucepan, combine the mango, pureed guavas, chipotle peppers, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Simmer Slowly:
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently. Cook until the fruits are completely softened and the mixture has thickened, which can take about 30-40 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Serve or Store:
Once the fruits are soft, you can mash them with a potato masher for a chunkier texture or blend the mixture for a smoother jam. Remove from heat and let the jam cool. Once cooled, transfer it to a jar or container for storage.
